Wednesday, April 17, 2024

This webinar will bring you an introduction to the important topic of autism and homelessness. Research has shown that prevalence of autism in the homeless population may be around 12%. However, currently there is very little awareness about autism in homelessness services and how best to support autistic individuals.

Who is it for?

This webinar is aimed at those who work in frontline homelessness services, to gain insights into the intersect between autism and homelessness.

Agenda:

  • A talk on the unique challenges faced by autistic individuals who face homelessness, from a lived experience perspective.
  • The latest research on autism and homelessness.
  • An introduction to the updated version of the Autism and Homelessness Toolkit – a document aimed to help service providers better supported autistic individuals using homelessness services.
  • Case Study: How Westminster City Council have support autistic individuals in homelessness services.
  • A talk from Homeless Link as to how these efforts tie into broader policy initiatives and the collective mission to address homelessness.

The session will conclude with a Q&A, providing attendees with the opportunity to ask questions to the speakers and further explore the topics discussed.
