Migrant Homelessness Frontline Network
Migrant Homelessness Frontline Network
The Migrant Homelessness Frontline Network has been facilitated by Praxis since 2016.
The Network offers support UK-wide to frontline staff encountering people experiencing homelessness who also have immigration issues, particularly where immigration status is a key factor in the situation.
The Network promotes links between migrant and homelessness organisations and provides information and updates on legislation, policy and practice. We ran information sessions on the transition to eVisas, on the increase in refugee homelessness and on proposed changes in immigration legislation which could increase migrant homelessness. We share resources, examples of good practice and provide spaces to discuss key issues, such as the threat from the far right.
“This was really informative, especially getting the opportunity to speak and hear from others on how it will effect individual services”
The Network runs regular events which are advertised through our quarterly newsletter and provides a monthly online drop-in where frontline staff can ask questions and seek support on migrant homelessness issues. The Network also runs an email group for asking questions and sharing information.
“Really good day of cross-team conversations, knowledge sharing and networking – thank you!”
Issues and concerns from members of the Network are fed back to decision-makers including regional authorities, MHCLG and UKVI and used to respond to government consultations.
