Moving On Up
Young people moving out of hostels into their first home are often left without support. Added to this the flat usually has nothing in it, not even the basics.
Moving On Up not only helps practically by helping them move and donating furniture and household goods that are donated to us but also this gives us the opportunity of supporting them through the basics - setting up utilities, sorting out benefits, budgeting, paying bills - all the things that need to be sorted on moving in. This is unique in Coventry for this age group and other organisations often refer people to us.
We have been doing this work for 4 years now but need to hire storage as the space in our youth centre is getting full, limiting the donations we can take.
We need for a year £5,247 - £1,536 to hire vans (more cost effective than owning one), £2,961 to hire 250m square storage, £500 to purchase used white goods as these are rarely donated and £250 to buy small electricals (kettles, grills and toasters).
