Complex Trauma and Trauma Informed Care training
Complex Trauma and trauma Informed Care for Frontline Staff
Complex Trauma and trauma Informed Care for Frontline Staff
Frontline Network is delighted to be making this training available to Frontline Workers for free. The training is provided by Homeless Link.
An introductory course that will explore what Complex Trauma and Trauma Informed Care is, and provide an opportunity to reflect on how your service can be a safe and empowering environment for staff and the people you support.
Trainer Joan Coulton will help individuals to think about potential challenges, as well as understand behaviours, and help you in how you might respond to these in your setting.
Delegates will also be given some practical resources for working in a trauma-informed way and will learn to recognise vicarious/secondary trauma within themselves and how to overcome it.
Who is this course for?
- Frontline homelessness workers with basic or limited knowledge of trauma
- Frontline homelessness workers with little experience in the field
- Staff from other sectors who have contact with people experiencing homelessness/people experiencing complex needs
- Organisations who are not yet, or are in the early stages of, working in a psychologically informed way
What will you learn?
On completion of this course you will:
- Have had an introduction to Complex Trauma and its effect on attachment and the brain
- Have had an introduction to Trauma Informed Care and learnt practical tips to help support clients to regulate emotion, manage behaviour and risks and create safe and empowering services
- Have had an opportunity to reflect on your practice in relation to the above
- Understand what vicarious trauma is and know how to look after yourself.
Delegates will be provided with a handbook of resources.
Training sessions are split into three module of 1.5 hours and the day is usually split as follows:
- 09:30-11:00 – Module 1
- 12:00-13:30 – Module 2
- 14:40-16:00 – Module 3
This is a small group training limited to 20 people to aid engagement and participation on the day. Please note this training is open to frontline staff working with people experiencing homelessness. This includes staff in the voluntary, statutory and public sectors.
Please note, as spaces for this training are limited, we will be requesting that a maximum of two frontline staff from a single organisation attend. We will also operate a waiting list once this is full. A Zoom link will be emailed ahead of the session to registered attendees.
