Drugs Trends Training: Street Benzos

The Scottish Frontline Network are inviting you to a drugs trend training delivered by Crew. This 1.5-hour digital course is designed to expand worker knowledge and confidence of new drug trends, particularly the use of street benzos.

The free training event is aimed at frontline workers supporting those experiencing or at risk of homelessness. During the training Crew will share current and credible information on drug use, introduce benzodiazepines and some of the other most commonly used drugs by people experiencing homelessness. 

Course Objectives

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Recall trends in drug use and name the typical effects and side effects of key substances including depressants (like benzos) and opioids (like heroin and methadone)
  • Identify the issues surrounding dose, availability and legality
  • Discuss basic harm reduction techniques
  • Recognise the signs and symptoms of overdose
